La terreta - our lovely coast

Come discover the story of legendary Ruta Destroy 🎧🌙

Back in the 80s and 90s, this coast barely slept. Without regulations clubs were open almost 24 hours. It became one of the most iconic electronic music scenes in Spain 🇪🇸, a place where music, freedom, and nightlife created something people still talk about today. During the years of the Ruta Destroy, people traveled between Benidorm, Cullera, Valencia and Castellón, chasing music that just did not seem to end. You had a proper sleep on Thursday, and that was basically your last serious sleep until Monday. The road itself became part of the adventure. Especially around El Saler, the drive was not just a way to get somewhere - it was part of the experience. Cars parked on the side, music still playing, people stopping, gathering, talking, dancing, then moving again. There was no clear line between the party and the journey.

This whole stretch of coast is made for movement: beaches, heat, open roads, port cities, tourism, sea breeze, warm nights, and that very Mediterranean habit of living outside. Alicante and Benidorm brought the holiday chaos, Valencia became the real heart of the scene, and Castellón was part of that feeling that the route could always keep going a bit further. Same coast, same energy, same idea: don’t stop now. This geography is a big part of why La Ruta became what it became.

Some of those legendary places are still there today 🎛️

You won’t just see the city as tourists do - you’ll get to know the side of it that shaped a whole movement. Through the streets, the atmosphere, and the stories behind the scene, you’ll discover how this place became much more than just a party destination. Maybe not exactly as they were back then, but enough to feel a part of what made them special. Visiting them means getting a glimpse of the energy that turned Valencian community into the techno capital of Spain.

But this is not only about nightlife 🤝

Along the way, there will be time to share experiences, explore the local culture, enjoy the Mediterranean lifestyle, and understand the people and atmosphere that made this movement possible in the first place. Because La Terreta is not just about where you go - it’s about how it feels to be here. The music, the road, the freedom, the stories, the people. What once made this place legendary is still here, just in a different form. It’s about experiencing the spirit behind it - and understanding why this place left such a strong mark on everyone who lived it.

And yes - this route is intense 🚗🌙

Expect a lot of moving around by car, a lot of clubs, a lot of different cities, a lot of stops, and very little sleep. Not every single night will be the same, but this is definitely not a calm stay-in-one-place SU. This is for people who are ready for long nights, hot weather, constant movement, and a programme where the road matters almost as much as the destination. Back then, people used to go on for three days without proper sleep. We are not saying you have to recreate the 90s completely… but you should definitely come prepared for an intense rhythm

Bienvenido a La Ruta del Bakalao. Underground. Legendary. Place of worship, place of freedom. Welcome to our home.
Optional programme: Kayak, rafting, biopark
Theme: You should expect a lot of clubs, a lot of moving around by car, a lot of different cities, and plenty of stops in between. This is not the kind of Summer University where everything happens in one place and everyone goes to bed early. The road is part of the experience, the nights are long, and sleep is... optional 😵‍💫✨
If you join us, be ready for constant movement, changing vibes, and the feeling that one night can easily turn into the next day. It’s chaotic, exciting, a exhausting, and that’s exactly what makes this route legendary. Accomodation: Hostel, gym, community building. 🌐 http://tbd.later This event is for 24 participants and is organized by AEGEE-Alicante, AEGEE-Castelló and AEGEE-Valencia. The fee is 300(+50)€. Applications are open until Friday 1 May at 21:59 UTC.
